Audio Player Blind Bargains Qast 61: Couch Cushion Audio

This week BBQ Regular Shelly Brizbin is on the show, although she didn't know it until just now. That is because we found a CSUN interview not heard before in our earlier run of coverage. So, um, surprise? We also have a tip, "Sound Off" and a motivational link on one hand and a modded OS on the other.

MattFromFlorida would like to clarify, and correct, some information mentioned during Ricky and Joe's review of the I.D. mate Galaxy.

"About the ID mate: well I have own two so far the I.D. mate 2 and now the I.D. mate Quest. When you scan something and it is not in the data base or on the net when it goes out to search for it on the net. When you record your message and then you push the select button to share it you don t share it with the world. What you do is share this with En-Vision America! Then they put it in the database and when they send out an update to the database and if you have an I.D. mate then it will read it the next time. That is if you updated your database! You are not sharing this with the world. Till En-Vision America puts it in their database it is not available to others. Also what it goes out and looks for on the net is not someone recording, but a database of barcodes. Then if they found that bar code in a database it will tell you. But it has to be a database that is written for that bar code. Not spoken. There are several reasons for this. People do not just speak one certain language and also you might not be able to understand these people as well as a privacy thing not everyone wants there voice to be heard all over the world. So in a nutshell what you have said about the sharing of the data base is wrong! It don t work like that! Also Schwan s products, even though they are in the database for some reason, the scanners cannot hardly find and scan Schwan s products. This goes for the Quest and the Summit and I think the Galaxy is having problems with Schwan s as well from what I can tell from the I.D. mate email list as En-Vision America has come on the list asking about Schwan s products. Now for some reason the I.D. mate 2 does scan these bar codes from Schwan s but of course they are not in the I.D. mate2 database so you need to know what it is to record it. but with the Old I.D. mate 2 there is no way to share with En-Vision America. Now En-Vision America is saying it is the size and color of the barcodes from Schwan s that is the problem. I would say it is more than that. That is just part of the problem as in that case the I.D. mate 2 would not scan the bar codes as well. but it does just fine with them! So I think it is a problem with the scanning part of the unit and maybe color as well but it is not all just Schwan s. If it was then the ID mate 2 would not work on them either! Now don t get me wrong I love my ID mate both the I.D. mate 2 and the Quest! Both work just as good as the day I got them. Nothing is perfect ! The I.D. mate units all them is amazing ! I don t know what I would do without mine! So just thought I would share a little!

Stanley sent along an email about the I.D. mate Galaxy as well...

"I thoroughly enjoyed Joe and Ricky's review of the new barcode scanner from En-Vision America. Although I have the Quantum barcode scanner sold by A T Guys, I decided to purchase the new one from En-Vision America. Like Ricky, I was sold by the portability aspect. I purchased the new En-Vision America scanner using their easy payment plan. I also liked the Wi-Fi aspect. I figured that I would drop in and post a comment. Great job.
