Fantasy sports has generally been something we would place firmly in the doable section of access, however, there has long been a need for further improvement in order to fully enjoy managerial control of your virtual dream team. Brian Fischler, of That Blind Tech Show
, drops by to tell us that Yahoo! has been working hard this year to polish up access support for Blind and Low Vision players. Listen in to hear how draft and league play has been changed from Rookie to Playmaker status. Also, we get an update on November s Laugh For Sight charity line up
towards the end of this interview.

Tip: Customize Live TV Information In YouTube TV

One of the coolest features in YouTube TV is the ability to sort, remove and read TV listings on the Live TV Guide. You can move your favorite channels to the top of the list. Or remove an entire genre of channels out of your lineup so you don t have to see them again when perusing the schedule. Open the YouTube TV app, in either iOS or Android, and head to your account settings. From there, look for Live TV . You can tap on a channel to add or remove it from your list. And you can use Custom Actions to move the channel up or down the list to the desired place within your entertainment pantheon. Changes are saved automatically, and you can even do this for location based channels in an often visited city for those who travel and don t want to touch the germ ridden hotel room TV remote controls.

Gregg Hayes wrote in to clarify some of the suggestions we had mentioned on a previous episode when it came to scanning business cards to your contact list.

Hi Joe,

Last week I believe you and JJ talked about the ability to scan business cards and make them into Contacts. I think you said the name of the application or applications that can do this, but I could not understand you well. Do you know which applications can do this now? I seem to remember you talking about it around the same time you were talking about seeing AI enhancements..

We mentioned Microsoft Office Lens, Google Lens, KNFB Reader and there are even some low cost solutions by Adobe. Experimentation is suggested as some of these options work better in iOS or Android depending on the use case and app support.

Long time listener Juan Avila sent in these thoughts in an email entitled The rise of main stream media and the Blind left in the dust .

Hello blind bargains,
I really enjoyed listening to podcast 153. Regarding the conversation about getting information from social media like pinterest and Instagram, I just wanted to share my personal experience with the rise of mainstream media as a blind person. Every day I'll see people bragging about the pictures they see every ten seconds, and if I'm lucky, I can convince those around me to describe what they see on their phones. Otherwise, I feel like I am kept out of the loop regarding news being presented. A lot of people these days use an app called Snap Chat , and Instagram . I see that by means of these apps, people are always aware about what is occurring around them, and young people especially, always know what their friends and family are doing without saying a word to each other. I wish that the content on these apps was more accessible to the blind. Moreover it the technology of TapTapSee was combined with the social media apps, to inform blind people about photos and videos, we as the Blind would be a step closer in absorbing media.

Last Word:

A musical feud and a vocal doppelganger make up the week s web oddities.
Weezer started the feud by visiting Africa
Toto responded by taking their Hash Pipe
J.J. is convinced that Joe is moonlighting as an announcer for this new game show

Everyone is back, and in their respective homes, for episode 155. That may signal an uptick in quality control. Note the need for emphasis on the word may . Have a great week!
