Breaking: American Council of the Blind Convention going Virtual for 2021

Events in 2021 continue to switch to virtual formats due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The American Council of the Blind convention, originally scheduled for Phoenix, now joins this list.

The following was sent out today from convention coordinator Janet Dickelman:

On October 13th the officers and directors of the board of the American Council of the Blind, voted unanimously to hold our 2021 convention virtually rather than in person.
While we are aware that the convention is scheduled for July, the government dictates are ongoing.
It appears the uncertainty and ever-changing restrictions involving the coronavirus will extend well into 2021. ACB's concern for everyone's health and safety remains paramount. Governmental directives emphasize the imperative that individuals void travel and group settings. In person convention planning begins in September; contracts are signed and deposits made for tour sites, bus companies, exhibit hall decorators and many other convention related items before the end of the year. Making our decision now avoids unnecessary expenses and gives us time to plan an outstanding virtual conference.
Virtual conference and convention dates are July 23rd through July 30th 2021.
