the US Has Signed the WIPO treaty But It Needs Ratification Before Any Changes Go Into Effect

Earlier this month, the US signed the WIPO treaty to end the book famine for people with print disabilities. they join 56 other countries who have also signed the treaty. Sadly though, signing does not mean that the treaty will go into effect. According to information from the RNIB, "- The treaty will come into effect once 20 countries have ratified it." Ratifying in many countries takes a parliamentary action. For example, in the US, two-thirds of the Senate must vote to ratify the treaty.

Getting this treaty signed was a step in the right direction, but sadly those who do not have access to printed material will have to wait until the countries involved decide that the treaty needs to be law.
