Classifieds: $150 Lightweight Keyboard and Audio Learning Resources
Here is a very lightly played, Yamaha Piaggero NP31 keyboard. It weighs about 12 pounds and has 76 weighted keys. It is easily accessible to someone who is totally blind or has partial vision.
The keyboard has several instrument sounds, including 2 acoustic pianos, electric piano, organ, harpsichord, and vibraphone. There are fewer sounds than many models, but these are realistic and easily accessible with the press of a button. Other features include song demos, metronome, recording and playback of what is played on the keyboard, reverb effects, and layering instrument sounds for simultaneous or split keyboard. MIDI in/out, a 1/4-inch headphone jack, foot switch jack and piano-style sustain pedal, and AC adapter are included. Also runs on 6 AA batteries (not included). Purchase does not include headphones, but does include a 1/4-inch instrument cable. Plug this into the 1/4-inch output on the keyboard and into the corresponding 1/4-inch input on a PA system, amplifier, or recording device for live performance or recording. In addition, if you are a NLS patron, you can download the beginning to advanced piano courses specially written and recorded for the visually impaired. Otherwise these must be purchased separately from the publisher.
This does not include a stand. You can put the keyboard on a table or purchase an X style folding keyboard stand. In a pinch it can be held on your lap or laid across a bed or bench, but this can be awkward. It's best to have a stand.
