Blind Bargains Qast 103: Hero Of The Universe

Reading and food might just be two of the things we excel at the most here on BBQ. Reading about food is also a fun thing we do from time to time. This week we'll feature segments on reading, food and some painful audio in the "Last Word". We'll speak with Alex Tavares and Cory Kadlik about the Read Read, a device which can help blind students learn braille. We take a visit back to the Blind Bargains test kitchen for another appliance. But rest assured that there are no cats mentioned in this episode. Okay, one cat does make an appearance. We're just not saying where.

Update: Freedom Scientific Appeals GW Micro Case, We've Got the Full Text

Another chapter in the patent lawsuit between Freedom Scientific and GW Micro was concluded last December when the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rejected Freedom Scientific's appeal of the original ruling which would, in essence, wipe out the place marker patent. Freedom Scientific is allowed another appeal of the ruling, and filed this appeal in February. Buy Two Months, Get One Month Free with MyFax

In searching for a way to send and receive faxes from home, we came upon MyFax, and are convinced it's the simplest such service around. Sending a fax is as simple as attaching it to an Email message, while our received faxes come to the same Email box. Currently, get the third month for free when buying two months of service, which starts at around $10 per month for a basic plan. Numbers are available in a wide variety of area codes, and the site and service are quite accessible. Note that your received faxes will come in a graphical format like .TIF or .PDF so you'll need a program like Kurzweil 1000 or OmniPage to read them with a screen reader.
