HimsBlaze ET Now Connects to Hims Braille Displays, Improves Web Radio and OCR

Hims has released version 1.5 of the firmware for the Blaze ET Digital Multiplayer. With this update, the Blaze ET is the first digital book player to support braile displays via Bluetooth. Users can connect most Hims braille displays to the Blaze ET to read books or control other functions of the device. Improvements to the web radio and OCR features are also included. It's a free update for all current users. Here's more information from Hims.

In this update, HIMS is the first company to integrate Braille support into a portable electronic book player.  Connect Blaze ET with any of our Braille Sense U2 notetakers, Braille EDGE 40 or Smart Beetle Braille displays for a powerful and portable solution. Enjoy Braille access to hardcopy materials in seconds when you combine Blaze ET with a HIMS refreshable Braille device! Read in Contracted Braille, Uncontracted Braille, and Computer Braille. You can currently read all output through our Braille notetakers and Braille displays as well as control almost all features of your Blaze ET!

The Web Radio now adds two new formats to its streaming availability, which now doubles the stations you have access to. You can now stream mms and asx stations.

OCR with the ability for the Blaze ET to help with finding the text on a page is now available.
New OCR user interface help indicators include Field View, Image Area, Focus Detection, Orientation, and Preview Image settings. These features will help you locate text on a page before you snapshot the OCR, and even help you when you scan a brochure that’s mixed with pictures and text where the text is not aligned with the rest of the page.

Hmmm. I still see no mention of Audible support. Makes it darned useless as a book reader for me.
