After Long Wait, NBP Releases B2G, their 20-cell, $2,495 Android Notetaker

After being discussed for several years, the National Braille Press's B2G Android-based notetaker is now available for sale. The unit features 20 cells of 8-dot braille, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, an SD card slot, 802.11G wireless, Bluetooth, and support for an optional phone card for cellular connectivity.
We first discussed the B2g in 2012, a project with the support of Dean Blazie, the man behind the Braille 'n Speak. NBP also recognizes Zone 24x7 for their engineering support throughout the project.
The B2g is available now for $2,495, pricing it well below other dedicated notetaking devices. NBP does offer direct downloads for popular apps including Facebook, TuneIn Radio, and BARD>
We'll post more information on this story as we learn of it.

Talk about underspec. 802.11G? Are you serious? This will slow down any modern network you connect to, as 2.4 ghz networks must slow down to accomodate the slowest device. It's like the Levelstar Icon all over again. For that price I'd much rather have a Vario Ultra if I were in the market.

darknexus, I agree. I am personally more interested in the NeoBraille that is being debuted at CSUN. The price tag is steep, but it actually is running up to date hardware unlike the other braille devices on the market.

I'll pass on them all. I've got other devices to be the brains and the Braille display can just drive those. No point tying myself down, especially not at the prices these gougers want.
