California Joins New York in Offering Free Bookshare Memberships for Qualified Residents

California is the latest state where blind and visually impaired residents can gain free access to Bookshare.
Thanks to a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services, Californians who qualify for library services can apply for a Bookshare membership and gain access to over 565,000 titles. This dwarfs the amount traditionally available from the library for the blind.
Bookshare launched a similar program with the New York Public Library in the fall of 2015. In addition, students in any state continue to have access to Bookshare's library of titles.
