Breaking: NFB Nearly Doubles Scholarship Program, Offering $240,000 in Awards in 2022

The National Federation of the Blind is nearly doubling the value of it's scholarship program and guaranteeing all winners an $8,000 prize. Applications are available now.
As announced in the January Presidential Release Live by NFB President Mark Riccobono, the change was done in large part to foster the mentorship aspects of the program and remove the competitive emphasis of the program while at convention. Previously, winners received amounts ranging from $3,000 to $12,000, with the final amounts decided just one day before the convention banquet.
This nearly doubles the value of the scholarship prizes to a total of $240,000, not including other gifts donated by sponsors to all winners which typically add thousands more to the prize. Winners still receive a free trip to the national convention, this year schedule for July 5-10 in New Orleans, and daily mentorship from NFB leaders.
For more information or to apply to the program, visit the NFB's scholarships page. Those who have already applied for the 2022 program do not need to reapply to received the increased awards. The deadline is March 31.
