O'Reilly is offering a free online course starting January 5, 2010 on
how to build iPhone apps with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. For those who
can't attend the live presentations, or who want to revisit them
later, they're also offering a package of the class on video with code
examples and slide presentations for download for $35 (introductory

It should be noted that what this is going to teach you would be applicable to web development as well. However, I doubt I'd build iPhone apps in web technologies. If you're doing that, after all, what's the point of an app over a web page? The Palm Pre uses web technologies (HTML, ECMAscript, and CSS) exclusively to build apps. However, most apps for the iPhone are written in its native objective-c language with the Cocoa Touch framework, even when they are simply streamlined interfaces to web services.
