If you're going to pay for an iPad, it's probably worth protecting. Why not use a waterproof case. Amazon.com (third-party) has the WaterGuard Waterproof Case for the iPad for $19.99. Shipping adds about $7. Note, the estimated shipping on this item is 6-10 days. You can still supposedly control your iPad from the case, due to its transparent nature.
