LookTel Money Reader has been renamed, and at least for the moment, is a free app It is now known as NantMobile Money Reader.
While there are no specific details or announcements at this time, NantMobile Health is a company "developing an integrated series of mobile solutions utilizing the technology assets from the NantWorks ecosystem of companies in health, genomics and proteomics along with our patented augmented intelligence object and voice recognition technologies.".
What this all means for the future of LookTel is unknown, but the connection between these companies goes back well before today's news. In 2009, a technology called SeeScan, was under development by a company called iVisit who worked on developing technology which would assist people who are blind to identify their surroundings by using the camera on their mobile phone. This company became LookTel in 2010. The object recognition technology was then purchased by the aforementioned NantWorks company which became the technology now sited as part of the description on the NantMobile website quoted above. Interestingly, the Mac version of the app remains with it's older name. Stay tuned to learn if there are any updates regarding LookTel Recognizer or the long forgotten LookTel Bread Crumbs apps.Source: iOS App Store
