If you're one of the millions of Americans who loves to use their ATM card without checking their balance every other minute, help is on the way. Starting July 1, 2010, you'll have to opt in to be charged those those pesky overdraft fees, the $30 to $40 charges which can so easily pile up if you go in the red. It only applies to credit card transactions, i.e. no help for overdrafting while using automatic bill pay. Be on the lookout in the coming months, and read those terms and conditions very closely, because banks will surely try to get you to opt in any devious way possible. In short, read all of the fine print, and make sure you don't want to opt in unless you really enjoy handing over large sums of money for no good reason. Via ConsumeristSource: Go to source
