BlindMiceMart.com still has the American Standard Solar-powered Talking Bible for $89.95. Plus, shipping is free. It includes the entire old and new testament and allows you to jump between chapters or books. Plus, it's completely solar-powered, requiring no batteries.

Talking Atomic Clock with Wireless Temperature Sensor for $31.50 (expired)



Independent Living Aids has a talking atomic clock with a wireless temperature sensor for $31.50. With about $8 for shipping, we couldn't find this item for less elsewhere. It clearly announces the time, temperature, date, and alarm setting. The alarm beeps for two minutes and includes a snooze feature. Voice guidance is included to allow you to set up the unit independently. Deal ends November 30.

Preliminary Feature List for Wayfinder Access 2.0 Published



Neil Barnfather of TalkNav has posted a preliminary feature list for the upcoming release of Wayfinder Access 2.0. It appears to be a free upgrade, and adds several features found in other GPS solutions for the blind including hotkey support, better descriptions of crossings, and an expanded "where am I" mode. No release date is given, but expect to see this version sometime in December or January.

An EBay seller has listed a Juliet Classic Interpoint braille embosser with a starting bid of $499.95 plus shipping and handling. It's listed in good physical condition but is untested. The seller, however, is offering a 7 day return on the item if it happens to not work. This could end up being a great deal on an Interpoint embosser. Auction ends November 29.

As a reader notes, probably the most anticipated product of the year, WalMart.com has the Hamilton Beach Talking Microwave back in stock for $79.96. You can have it shipped for free to your local store or pay for shipping to your home. These have been listed twice previously and usually sell out within days. It features 10 power levels, 8 presets for common foods, and English and Spanish operation. According to reports, most features are accessible and usable without sighted assistance. JAWS for Windows 9.0 Now Shipping



Fredom Scientific has posted the final release for JAWS 9.0. This latest version adds support for retaining HTML formatting while copying and pasting, improved support for Microsoft word, and support for the Outlook calendar, among numerous other enhancements and bug fixes.

Victor Reader Stream V1.1 Firmware Released



Humanware has released version 1.1 of the software to run the Victor Reader Stream. It's a free update and available from their website. Among the changes are support for Audible.com audio formats and many new and improved navigation commands. For example, a go to percent option will let you jump to a particular portion of a file, by percentage. A complete What's New file is linked to this post.

Office 2007 Does DAISY



Microsoft Office 2007 will soon be able to export files into the DAISY format, according to CNet. DAISY allows for easier navigation, embossing, and narration and is used by many accessible Ebook publishers including Recordings for the Blind & Dyslexic. The office extension will add a "Save as DAISY" option to some of Microsoft's applications. The new plug-in should be available sometime in early 2008.
