#CSUNATC19 Audio: Screen Sharing In The Classroom Has A New Friend With Overflow Biz and Flowy

The CSUN Exhibit Hall can give you glimpses into the future with moonshots, prototypes and emerging products. Sam Kim, CEO of Overflow Biz, Inc., gave Shelly a first look at an iOS app that just recently arrived on the App Store. Flowy allows for a teacher to screen share content onto an iOS device. From there, and the same features are coming to the PC and Mac versions of the product, a student can magnify or alter the visual aspects of the content being shared. Site based subscription models are being finalized now, however, an individual student license is said to b $4.99. You can learn more about the app by visiting Flowy in the App Store
And by taking a look at the Overflow Biz, Inc. website

Now, here’s Shelly Brisbin.
SHELLY BRISBIN: Welcome back to Blind Bargains. I’m on the floor of CSUN 2019 at the Overflow booth, and we’re going to talk about an interesting concept in magnification with Sam from Overflow.
Hi, Sam. How are you?
SAM KIM: Hi. Yeah. Good. Thank you.
SB: It’s great to have you on the show.
So I talked to Sam last year about a very different product. But let’s start with what’s new this year. Flowy?
SK: Yeah. I would like to explain about our solution. Flowy is a powerful low-vision solution that provide internet screen-related services, as well as advanced video magnifier features. So let’s say a university or classroom, they are using projection or large-screen TV, something like that. How do the low-vision see that screen? They must be – I assume they must be up front. Even if they are up front, it is not easy to see that screen. So we approach in a different way. We install the software on a computer – projection computer. That software send – is able to send the screen content to – directly to your smartphone or paired tablet PC. So now, you can see that screen through your smartphone anywhere in classroom.
SB: And you were telling me before that that product works in reverse as well. So if you have a laptop on your desk, but maybe you’re wanting to see what’s on an iPad or another PC up at the front of the classroom, you can do that as well?
SK: Yes. PC or Mac or IOS, Android – yeah. They -- both possible. Yeah.
SB: So it doesn’t matter which combination of platforms you’re using. Can multiple students see the teacher’s PC, or is it one to one?
SK: Yeah. As long as the school has a site license, then multiple access is possible. Yeah.
SB: Okay. So basically, you’re running some software on the teacher’s PC that allows the students to connect via a network, kind of.
SK: That’s right. Yeah.
SB: And then, can – so a student can view it. Can the student interact in any way, or are you just screen sharing from one party to all the people at –
SK: Yeah. Screen sharing.
SB: Yeah.
SK: Because it shouldn’t be controlled by students --
SB: Right.
SK: -- you know. So just screen sharing. Yeah.
SB: Is this product available now?
SK: No. But IOS is available now.
SB: Okay.
SK: But this is, kind of, subscription service.
SB: Uh-huh.
SK: So four ninety-nine. $4.99 per month, you can use this Flowy service.
SB: So since IOS is available now, you would need, say, connecting to an iPad from an iPhone, but the PC and Android and Mac versions are not yet ready?
SK: Yeah. We are preparing them.
SB: When do you think they’ll be out, and are they out – will they be out in the U.S. and the rest of the world at the same time?
SK: Yes. Same time.
SB: Okay.
SK: So we are hoping that will be available this April.
SB: Okay. So not too long from now, then.
SK: Yeah. Not too long.
SB: On all the platforms in April?
SK: Yeah.
SB: Okay. And tell – last year you were here with a very different product.
SK: Yeah.
SB: It was a slate and stylus product.
SK: Yes.
SB: Can you tell me -- is that still around? What’s going on with that product?
SK: Yes. It is still under development because we need funds.
SB: Got you.
SK: It costs too much, so at the moment – but we are still going on in the development. It – we really -- looking forward to be, you know, make this product.
SB: People were interested in that product because it was so unique. But your challenge is finding somebody to take you on and distribute it or to help -- you actually need funding for development is what you’re saying?
SK: Yes. Yeah.
SB: Okay. Well, why don’t you tell people – we talked about the price for Flowy. But tell people where they can get more information if they’re interested in the Flowy product.
SK: So we didn’t figure it out yet for the site license. But for end users, they just pay four ninety-nine per month.
SB: So you go to the App Store and download it?
SK: That’s right.
SB: Do you have a website up for Flowy?
SK: Yes. Flowly.KR, F-l-o-w-l-y, dot, K-R. You can’t download the application for Mac and PC, but will be available soon. Not at the moment.
SB: Got it. Sam from Overflow, thank you so much for being on Blind Bargains.
SK: Thank you. Have a nice day.
